My first Anzac

Although I've lived in Australia for over twenty years, Anzac Day has never been anything more than a day off school or work for me. This year, I decided to attend Anzac Day services and events for the first time. (Couldn't quite get out of bed for the 4:15 am pre-dawn service though. Maybe next year…)

Wreath-laying ceremony at Martin Place

8:30 am
I did manage to wake up for the wreath-allying ceremony. It was a cold and wet morning. It's been raining all week. I think it adds to the atmosphere.

Lest we forget

The parade, the people, the music

9:30 am
As a young Chinese person, I often wonder how Anzac Day is relevant to me. It was nice to see people of all ages and colours taking part in the parade.

Hyde Park commemorative service

12:30 pm
Last year I slept in and heard the music from the service while lying in bed. I suppose there is really no excuse not to attend at least once, when Hyde Park is only one minute away.
